No matter who we are, we all have bad hair days. They can be exhausting and frustrating and stressful but they happen to us all. The unwelcome event of a bad hair day happened to me just this week. This has prompted me to share some insight as to how to best recover, as well as get through the day with as little stress as possible.

While I’ll spare you the details, I will say that I could not wait for the day to end. I had hoped that my impatience went unnoticed. I will never know how the people who interacted with me that day would truly perceive my actions. Especially for lead generation professionals, here is a list of 3 best ways to overcome and get through a bad hair day in sales.

1. Having a Bad Hair Day? Sometimes, It’s Best to Admit It

When called on it, admit that you’re having a bad hair day. To me there is nothing stronger to building a relationship than being human and honest and admitting your situation. It helps others to know why we may have responded in a way we normally would not have responded.

Yes, you probably made a few mistakes that day and responded in a way you normally would not have, but you are only human. I have found the best way to get through the day that is not going as well as you had planned is to make light of the experience and get through it as best you can with the bit of humor. Don’t take yourself too seriously.

2. Know That It Will End

Keep this thought in the forefront of your mind. I have found this to be the force that gets me through the day as best as possible, and reminds me that tomorrow will be a better day. It most always is.

3. Learn from Your Mistakes

I can speak for myself and can say that I have made mistakes on bad hair days. When I get through the bad hair day see the brightness of the days to come, I review what I could’ve done better and try to learn how to better handle those same situations better under the same stressful situations.

I realize this post may be different than my traditional lead generation and lead qualification tips that you typically find here. But as we have all been there, I thought it appropriate and therapeutic to share this with you. These tips helped me. If they help you, feel free to pin them on your wall to look at them if a bad hair day should come. (Do help a Facebook friend by sharing this with a Like or Tweet!) Remember, it will pass.
